The Freestanding 90-Degree Trapezoid Loop Ladder is a new way to climb which offers a few advantages over the typical play structure of this variety. The angular shape of the overhead bar and rungs gives kids a benchmark for how far along they are as they swing across without having to see how many rungs are left. If they only make it to the first bend, they can make it a goal to reach the second. The two slight turns also ensure that the child’s field of view will change as they cross so that they aren’t just looking at the opposite side of the structure, and also provides a slight challenge to keep it from being repetitive. The entire structure is supported by four steel support posts, with an additional support attached to the middle of the overhead bar for added stability.

Highlights:

  • Two entry points
  • Eight trapezoid-shaped climbing rungs
  • Two 45 degree bends add a twist to climbing
  • Four posts comprised of powder-coat painted steel

Frequently Asked Questions

What age range is appropriate for the 90-degree trapezoid loop ladder?
This ladder is designed for school-age children 5-12 years old. The overhead grip strength and coordination required makes it unsuitable for preschool playgrounds. Your site must provide 6 feet of clearance on all sides per ASTM F1487 standards.
How much space does the freestanding 90-degree trapezoid loop ladder require?
The equipment footprint varies by manufacturer, but you need a minimum 6-foot clearance zone around the entire perimeter per ASTM F1487. Most installations require approximately 20x20 feet of total space including safety zones. Verify exact dimensions with your equipment specifications before site preparation.
What maintenance does the trapezoid loop ladder require?
Monthly inspections focus on the overhead bar connections and steel support posts for wear or loosening. The angular design reduces maintenance compared to straight monkey bars because weight distribution across five support points creates less stress on individual connection points. Annual bolt tightening and surface coating touch-ups extend equipment life.
