This Backboard Brace is an essential part of any basketball hoop. This simple piece is easy to install, and fits all of our basketball posts and backboards (both rectangular and fan-shaped). The brace consists of two extremely strong 15 gauge galvanized metal bars with a one inch outer diameter. These fortify the backboard by redistributing any force on it throughout the post, instead of having a single point absorb the full impact. This makes it much more sturdy and resilient to things like rough play, misuse, or natural wear and tear. The two 21” long metal bars are connected to the post with a pipe clamp. This Basketball Backboard Brace comes with a pipe clamp that fits your choice of either a 3.5” post (SKU: 542-558) or a 4.5” post (SKU: 542-353). Now you will never again have to worry about your basketball hoop accidentally being destroyed by epic slam dunks.

Highlights:

  • Two 21” long 15 gauge galvanized bars with 1” O.D.
  • 3.5” clamp with the SKU: 542-558 model
  • 4.5” clamp with the SKU: 542-353 model
  • Easy installation
  • Does not include backstop or backboard

Frequently Asked Questions

What basketball backboard brace do I need for my court's post size?
You need to match the brace to your post diameter. This basketball backboard brace comes with pipe clamps for either 3.5 inch posts or 4.5 inch posts. The two 21-inch galvanized metal bars redistribute impact force throughout the entire post structure instead of concentrating stress at the backboard mounting point.
How does a backboard brace prevent basketball hoop damage?
The brace transfers impact forces from slam dunks and aggressive play through two 15-gauge galvanized steel bars down to the post foundation. Without a brace, all impact force concentrates at the backboard mounting bolts, which eventually loosen or break under repeated stress from normal basketball play.
Can maintenance staff install this basketball backboard bracket without special tools?
Yes, installation requires only basic hand tools. The pipe clamp attaches around your existing post and the two metal bars bolt to your backboard using standard hardware. Most facilities maintenance teams complete installation in 30 minutes without removing the existing backboard or rim.
