Make sure your eating area is safe and inclusive with the ADA Picnic Table by Nature of Early Play for preschoolers and toddlers. Our tables seat eight to ten children comfortably, at age-appropriate heights of 16-inches for toddlers, or 20-inches for elementary-school kids. The unique feature of this picnic table is the elevated plank on one side of the table. This plank is to give persons with wheelchairs easier access to the table, allowing them to be included in the fun. To accommodate different spatial requirements, the picnic table is available in two lengths: 48-inches or 60-inches. Constructed out of 100% recycled structural plastic, and featuring stainless steel hardware, these tables are highly weatherproof, making them built for durability. The Recycled Plastic materials allow you to use heavy-duty cleaners without compromising the table’s brown and tan finish.

Highlights:

  • Made from plastic that has been recycled
  • Sturdy base underneath for strong support
  • Great place for children to eat

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes an ADA picnic table different from a standard picnic table?
The ADA picnic table features an elevated plank on one side that allows wheelchair users to roll up directly to the table surface. Standard picnic tables have benches on both sides that block wheelchair access. The elevated plank creates an open space underneath for wheelchair positioning while maintaining the same 20-inch table height for elementary kids or 16-inch height for toddlers.
Do I need special surfacing around an ADA picnic table?
Your site requires an accessible route to the picnic table with firm, stable surfacing that meets ADA guidelines. Poured-in-place rubber, rubber tiles, or compacted engineered wood fiber work well. At AAA State of Play, we recommend extending the accessible surface at least 30 inches beyond the wheelchair access side to allow for maneuvering space.
How many children can use this picnic table at once?
The 48-inch model seats 8 children comfortably, while the 60-inch version accommodates up to 10 children. One side has the elevated plank for wheelchair access, so you get seating on three sides total. The recycled plastic construction supports heavy use from multiple children without maintenance issues common with wood tables.
